I am registered and insured with the Psychotherapists and Counsellors Federation of Australia (PACFA) and as such are bound by their professional standards. I maintain and improve my skills through ongoing professional development and regular supervision.
I have extensive experience in both the private and community sector, with over 30 years working alongside people to achieve psychological and emotional stability, build resilience, and reach self-defined wellness goals.
I am a proud Aboriginal woman from the Dharug Nation on Gandangara lands, with ancestral ties to Nanygah Country in Western Australia.
ExperienceSpecialtiesI worked in the community sector for over 20 years, with a focus on supporting the most vulnerable people in our community; those experiencing domestic violence, people living with addiction, the elderly, Aboriginal people, those suffering displacement or homelessness, people living with chronic mental health issues and children who had been exposed to neglect and trauma.
After navigating my own lived experience of mental health challenges and knowing first hand how hard it was to not only reach out for support, but to find the right person to work with, I became passionate about supporting people, in the hope their journey to find support might not be as challenging as mine was. After graduating from university, I began working as a Counsellor/Group Facilitator within a private mental health unit. In this space, I was exposed to working with people from all walks of life, presenting with various mental health diagnoses, trauma and substance use. Eight years later, I continue to work in this role, providing 1:1 counselling to clients, as well as the preparation, implementation and delivery of an extensive psychoeducation program. I am passionate about educating people about mental health, how to manage their symptoms in a way that is effective and useful for them; as well as teaching life skills such as boundaries, emotional regulation, grounding and how to improve self-esteem.
I have run my private practice, Serenity Mental Health Services for over 7 years now and love my work and the diversity it offers. I am a passionate mental health practitioner who combines clinical expertise with genuine warmth and person-centred care, to support clients on their journey toward mental wellness. I pride myself on building strong, compassionate relationships, that empower people to work on the issues they came to therapy for and improve their quality of life.
In 2026, I expanded my practice to provide mental health trained Support Workers to my NDIS clients as well as inviting others in the NDIS space to come on board with Serenity Mental Health Services to ensure you receive safe, professional, supportive care from our Support Workers.
It is very rewarding to be part of another human being’s journey and to be witness to how awareness, skill development and compassion can help make their life meaningful and enjoyable again.

"I am a member of the Australian Defence Force and have served as an Army Officer for 9 years. During our time together Kerrie has been assisting me with my diagnosis of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety and Depression. Kerrie is a wonderful Therapist. Her person centred approach placed me at ease quickly and effectively, and her previous work with ADF clients ensured there was minimal explanation of Defence specifics to her. I have found Kerrie to be a warm, genuine individual who shows absolute care for her patients. She has the ability to put you at ease within minutes of meeting her and I can honestly say I have felt genuinely cared for in my therapy with Kerrie.”
- Boston - Private Client"I started seeing Kerrie two years ago for my anxiety disorder and ADHD. I immediately felt comfortable with her due to her kind, genuine nature. She took the time to help me understand my diagnoses and by listening to me, we were able to identify some of my triggers, which Kerrie then taught me coping strategies to help me manage them, which has made my life so much easier. Kerrie has taken the time to help me understand and create the boundaries I needed and gives me a safe space to talk about what is going on in my life and how I am feeling. I look forward to our therapy sessions because of the genuine care and respect I have for her and knowing that she always has my best interests at heart."
- Katie - Private Client- Danny - Private Client“I first met Kerrie in 2018. I Instantly recognised that Kerrie was truly professional in her approach to her work, displaying an understanding and positive approach to what I needed. I was seeing Kerrie on a regular basis for 4 years and made incredible progress with Kerrie's assistance on so many levels. If it wasn’t for the support, education and encouragement I received from Kerrie, I would not have achieved the life I am living now, where I am in recovery from my alcohol addiction, depression and toxic behaviours, that was doing damage to myself and the people I love. I am proud to call Kerrie my friend, who used to be my Therapist.
“I had been suffering with depression for many years before I decided to get help for my depression. As an older person, I was worried about being judged and feeling like my issues weren’t as important as others. Kerrie's genuinely kind approach with me has been amazingly supportive and helpful. I felt comfortable discussing my issues with her and she helped me develop strategies I can use to help me cope. She went out of her way to support me when I really needed help and my worries about being judged dissipated within 5 minutes of our first session."
